Claiming Social Security - Finding the best Strategy

The Social Security Program is simple and complicated at the same time.

Simple because you barely notice it is there, unless you examine every one of your paychecks for the line with your contribution or - if you are self-employed - have to write a quarterly check for what is called 'self-employment tax' in your case.

Planning for the other side of the coin, claiming retirement benefits, however, is much more complicated as many variables, such as employment record, your age, marital status, children, working status, spouse's age and earnings determine the amount you can claim. You should not wait until you retire to weigh the options.
